Current Affairs a la Twitter
An hour past midnight and yet the web is still stirring. Stirring with what? Names that one can hardly avoid… over and over again… the same names that will be as futile and insipid as day-old cola in a glass when yet another fresh tabloid intrigue bubbles up.
I could point my nose upwards and say that I could not care less even though these names caught my attention due to immoderate media repetition, but on another limb, I honestly don’t think they deserve more than mere Twitter-like lines.

Set of Names 1: Adam Lambert and Kris Allen
What I Think: Sometimes, simple charm triumphs over extravagant talent.
Set of Names 2: Hayden Kho and Katrina Halili
What I Think: Shame on him? Shame on both of them!
Set of Names 3: Alec Baldwin and David Letterman
What I Think: I’m a Filipina. I know I am not a mail order bride. I am not offended. Filipinos have accomplished coarser jokes before.

Now, we should really go back to caring about more important matters.
Have you noticed lately… that the world is dying?

Now that is something that deserves more than one-liners and more repetition. I think that instead of spreading panic or fear, the government and media should begin to educate people on a wider scale about safety precautions. There are preventions after all.

1- go adam! haha, but you’re right about simple charm.
2- i think the guy should be arrested. i heard he drugged katrina halili and abused her. they shouldn’t let acts like that go unpunished!
3- ok, i don’t know about that. but whatever he said, it shouldn’t bother us. there are worse things to think about, like H1N1, as Gabi pointed out. time to keep our immune systems up!

1. I’ve only watched about 3 full episodes during the season but enough to know that Adam’s really the better singer (although not my type - not that Kris is, either).haha
2. Drugged or un-drugged, I believe the girl had her faults too.
3. Here’s what Alec said: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4Ehwom0y3M Which resulted in a multitude of angry Filipinos and Senator Revilla threatening to beat him. Good thing Alec apologized, though.

Yep! Most of all, we need Vitamin P (prayer for protection). haha

Precisely, Rian. I would be irked a bit by his remark if there really aren’t any Filipina mail order brides. Many have accused him of stereotyping Filipina women, but not in my opinion. People just tend to be too “reactionary”!

1. as always… it’s personality that captures the heart.
2. better bury all the skeletons in your closet or else u’ll end up stinky as hell once opened.
3.Thats the image we depicted to the world. Groveling to some blue-eyed foreigners. Mail-order bride or discretely foreigner hunting on chat rooms. We should’t just react, we have ourselves to blame though. We better just change our image so no one would step on us. :P
