A Quintet for Tuesday 7:00 p.m.
Although we deplaned several hours ago, I am still walking on air. The trip to Manila was just marvelous! I do not even know where to start and my head is teeming with so many words to say. Every moment was worth remembering. Our original plans mutated slightly but not a single day was wasted and there is once again so much to be thankful for. If only my students, laundry, and other chores would permit me to write away, I would reserve one entry for every day or event that transpired, but since I have to catch up with my provincial yet full schedule, I shall have to momentarily lay aside writing about meeting Mrs. Licad and Mr. Sunico and how we ended up in the UST Conservatory by surprise, meeting my parents’ old friends, the superb culinary treats, my exciting book buys, playing the violin for old people and the sick, and so much more so I could write about a most incandescent, however brief, meeting. This rendezvous made me forget my initial irritation with the traffic, and the Belo Essentials and nobody-wants-to-kiss-wrinkles-on-the-neck banners lining the highways that welcomed us.
Aaaand, my suspicions have been confirmed! UP Diliman is really a magical place and magical people dwell therein: Sir Ba - - - *screech - halt* I mean, the talented Mr. Ripieno, Jeremiah Reyes the sage, Mikhail Lastrilla with the miraculous hands, and Gabriela Francisco with the effulgent heart.
While I had every reason to feel little and insignificant among UP’s crème de la crème (guys, do not even try denying this), and while some still doubt the authenticity of relationships birthed through the internet; Jeremiah, along with this particular group which was formerly an online family welcomed me sincerely with open arms, minds, and hearts, despite my inadequacies and I am really touched in the depths of my heart and soul.
“I LOVE THEM ALL!” Said I to Keith after the gathering, and I do! I still cannot stop gushing about them and I think my biological family is already a bit sick hearing about it over and over again but I cannot help myself. I cannot thank this other family enough for the gifts, the pizza that must have been so delicious but which I cannot remember tasting due to the excitement, the books, the time, the music, the precious company, and especially for the wisdom and enlightenment that each of them have imparted to me. Through several enchanted clicks of the cyber rodent, I have gained a most gracious sister, a cerebral step-dad, and gallant brothers, through whom God manifests His gift of friendship. It’s amazing! I am already looking forward to a reunion.

our quintet was like the second movement of Beethoven’s Quintet for Piano and Winds; very intimate; you can see through its ‘transparent’ textures each unique ‘color’ of every instrument within the the milieu of its total sound palette (something like that); thanks so much for this;

Whoa! Sir, you were up so early (or so late)!
I Thank you and the others for your time and for receiving me warmly. You didn’t make me feel like an outsider and I surprisingly felt as if I belonged. Tuesday 7:00 p.m. was truly an intimate and charming musical “movement”. I hope you can all come to Dipolog. =)

Thanks, Fred! Mrs. Licad is Cecil’s mother and teacher. They listened to my little brother on the piano. =)
Hahaha Don’t you worry. There’s nothing quite corrupting about Brahms’ unrequited love, Sir. =P
